You may be aware that Regular Tom has previously gone by the pen-name of “The Caradoc Dearborns,” under which name he has released and performed a number of humorous “Wizard Rock” songs about the Harry Potter books, i.e., the corpus upon which this program’s musings are founded.
Indeed, the very title of our podcast, “The Chapter Titles Were So Good,” is a lyrical exceprt from his ballad “Regarding The Fandom.” Listener, were you aware?
No matter. Whether you are a Dearborns fan of old, or a newborn babe who knows nothing of anything: Listener, take heed. For Regular Tom has taken up once more the mantle of the Caradoc Dearborns.
And yet things are different this time. No longer does Tom sing brief ditties to tickle the funny bone—perhaps the merriment of The Chapter Titles Were So Good has sated this jocular impulse within his soul. Who can say?
And these new songs are “Not necessarily Wizard Rock,” Tom insists. “Just songs,” he calls them. Just songs. Perhaps, but no less are they steeped in reference to the wizarding world—and no less suited for special appreciation by devotees of The Boy Who Lived.
And so we refer you to A Caradoc Dearborns Christmas, an album of songs by our very own Regular Tom, available for streaming or download on Bandcamp. We urge you to hear it—indeed, if you are a regular listener of our show, then you already have heard parts of it, wedged interstitially between the segments of our latest episode. But if this is all you have heard, then you have not heard the words, and it is these that we urge you most strongly to hear.
Please download, listen, enjoy, and share with your loved ones.
